Environment in Madagascar
Co2 Emissions (kt) - 355.70 in 1961(minimum), 1,936.18 in 2004 (maximum), 1,910.51 as of 2008
Carbon dioxide emissions are from the burning of fossil fuels and making of cement.
Co2 emissions in thousands of tons-
Madagascar- 1,911 Co2 emissions, China- 7,031,916 Co2 emissions, U.S.- 5,461,014 Co2 emissions(UN estimates)
According to these numbers, Madagascar makes .01% of the worlds Co2 emissions compared to China's 23.53% and the U.S.'s 18.27%.
Is man to blame for the increase?- I believe that man contributes to the increace in Co2 but the cause may not necessarily be solely us. The amounts have increaced over time with a few exceptions but there are other things that may have caused this.
Is Co2 causing a global warming trend?- I do not think that Co2 is causing a global warming trend because the earth's temperature rising and falling is a natural trend that happens in cycles. Also, plants need Co2 to grow and they grow better with a substantial amount of Co2.
How would global warming affect Madagascar if it were to happen?- The country could be very dry and cause wild fires. Reduced rain fall could decrease lemur population and have negative effects on crops. The climate change could also cause other animals to become extinct such as certain reptiles and amphibians. Global warming is also capable of destroying coral reefs which would deprive fish of shelter and food.
